Yes. A freely falling body DOES experience a gravitational force. Also, this is in accordance with the Newton's conclusion as in this case, the two objects the earth and the object which is falling freely. There is a very strong force of attraction between them so, the object always tends to move towards the centre of the earth. The earth is not seen to move towards the object due to its extremely heavy mass.
